Novel micro-CHP pilot plant goes into field test operation after successful long-term laboratory trial

Nuremberg, 20 June 2019: So far, large portions of biogenic solid fuels have remained unused for power generation in the low power range. In grate firing systems currently available, they cause major problems due to the necessary high combustion temperatures. A technical solution to this problem is now being developed as part of the BioWasteStirling project (FKZ 03KB122) financed by the BMWi funding area "Biomass Energy Use". The micro-CHP plant developed by scientists of the FAU Erlangen-Nuremberg successfully passed a first long-term test in the laboratory and is to go into operation at the end of June at the field test site in Wunsiedel.
