Using biomass for heating in small scale appliances, like inset appliances and room heaters takes account for the CO2 reducing aim of German Government and European Union in the field of climate protection and preservation of recourses. Aim of this joint research project is the development and realisation of measures for reducing of particulate emission and emissions of products from incomplete combustion with primary measures. The realisation of reducing measures in appliances for demonstration purposes will be carried out in cooperation with three manufactures of appliances fired by solid fuels. This joint research project will show possibilities and practicable measures for reducing the appliances emissions and improvement of combustions conditions. Finally, with the results of research and development and also the economic and technical evaluation in this project, a basic manual (final report) for development of appliances fired by solid fuels with low emissions will formulate.
Aim of this joint research project is the further development of combustion technique for room heater ‘Kachelofen’ inset appliances and built-in inset appliances and practicable reducing measures for particulate matter and emissions of products from incomplete combustion with primary measures.
In this research project appliances for demonstration purposes (small scale appliances - room heater, ‘Kachelofen’ inset appliances and built-in inset appliances) for wood with low particulate emission and low emissions of products from incomplete combustion will be developed by the “Institut für Feuerungs- und Kraftwerkstechnik” (IFK), appliances manufacturer and “HKI Industrieverband Haus-, Heiz- und Küchentechnik”. IFK will analyse and compile the scientific and technical state of art, design a combustion chamber with low particulate emissions together with the manufacturers Ulrich Brunner GmbH, LEDA Werk GmbH & Co. KG and Hase Kaminofenbau GmbH as well as prepare a basic manual (as final report).
