Subject and aim

The project focuses on the yet insufficient exploitation of the potentials of green waste as resource for energy production (solid fuel) as well as compost production.

Green-OPTI’s particular focus consists of a comprehensive analysis of the actual state of green waste collection in Germany, of a presentation of treatment and recovery options as well as of the elaboration of success criteria for  a “woody green waste value chain”. In addition, relevant influencing factors of green waste treatment with regard to the production of high-quality composts and solid fuels will be analyzed and optimized in cooperation with companies in practice.

Measures

  • Potential analysis
  • Analysis of the legal framework
  • Collection of green waste in the municipalities
  • Treatment and recovery of green waste
  • Optimizing the quality of solid fuels
  • Development of concepts for a green waste value chain

Focus

  • Green waste
  • Integrated material and energy recovery
  • Potential analysis
  • Legal framework
