Topic

Development of a guide for private and public capital providers with regard to small wood gasification systems and training courses on this guide and the included recommendation.

Aim

The aim of the project was to evaluate recent developments of small wood gasification systems and based on that to develop a guide for capital providers with regard to small wood gasification systems. This guide with the included recommendations is supposed to help potential investors to assess proposed concepts in order to avoid misinvestment and reduce environmental impact of such appliances.

Measures

A directory of small wood gasification plants was built up and the operators have been interviewed with a questionnaire about technical and economical characteristics of their plants as well as operating experiences. Taking into account the results of this survey, a guide for private and public capital providers, who are interested in wood gasification, has been developed. The guide includes a descriptive part on the state of the art of small wood gasification systems as well as recommendations on the assessment of proposed concepts and a checklist to facilitate a quick rating of the available documents. To demonstrate the contents of the guide and to instruct interested people three training courses have been held in Hamburg, Kassel and Augsburg. The contents of the guide have been published on the website www.holzgas-info.de .

Focus

Assessment of small scale wood gasification systems.
