Topic

Gasification of biomass as future technology is state of the art for wooden feedstock in the CHP-application. With regards to a flexible plant operation for an energy supply on demand and the use of alternative fuels, there is still a requirement for research and development. In this project a numerical simulation tool with a kinetic database should be developed, which results in a common applicable and usable “Toolbox”. With this Toolbox the thermochemical processes may be fuel specific predicted while being developed or to optimize running plants.

Planned results:

  • Plant level: procedure, pilot plant, demonstration plant
  • Concept level: plant concept, information concept
  • Market level: Market-ready technologies
  • Data level: models / modelling, database, measurement series / program, software
  • Publications: Scientific Papers

Aims

Target is the advancing development of a numerical simulation of thermochemical gasification process. The simulation should be capable to represent the influence of different solid biofuels by their kinetic characteristics and is validated with a laboratory scale reactor and a commonly used reactor. With a combined database the project should result in a Toolbox for plant manufacturer and user to fuel specifically develop and optimize gasification plants.
