Subject and aim

The project addresses the use of biogenic residuals and process flexibility for demand-driven energy production. For flexible biogas production based on grain waste and milling by-products, a model-based process control has been further developed and tested on a plant scale. In addition to conventional process analysis, on-line sensors for the detection of volatile organic acids in the gas stream as well as in the fermentation medium (semiconductor sensor and microbial electrochemical sensor platform) are to be included.
