Topic

The research project discusses the variety of acceptance positions regarding biofuel production, provision and use in most different stakeholder groups (associations, economy research and others) as well as sustainable production options for biofuels – aiming at recommendations for a biofuel strategy.

Aims

The project aims at the development of recommendations for a biofuel strategy that has prospects of acceptance by crucial stakeholders and users and an integrated market access for biofuels. Besides the identification of pilot projects in sustainable production and use, indicators of social sustainability are discussed. Accounting for stakeholders' positions, potentials of future communication and cooperation amongst and between the different bio-fuel related sectors will be investigated.

Measures

The FG-UPSY is concerned with analysing and comparing crucial stakeholders’ positions and communication regarding bio-fuel in Germany and focuses on optimisation potentials and interventions.

The DBFZ does research on  sustainable  concepts  of biofuel production – looking for positive and negative examples. Furthermore, the FG-UPSY is supported in exploring the stakeholder constellations and framing conditions in terms of bio-fuel production and use.

Focus

  • Exploration of the most different acceptance positions, framing conditions and stakeholder constellations in terms of biofuels in Germany and detection of optimisation potentials in stakeholders' communication (FG-UPSY)
  • Investigation and depiction of international and national concepts for biofuel production, discussion of social sustainability of biofuels (DBFZ)
  • Investigation of regional value added in the case of biofuel production (DBFZ)
  • Recommendations for a biofuel strategy (FG UPSY, DBFZ)
