Topic

A SNG production unit is supposed to be coupled downstream to the so-called Heatpipe-Reformer HPR®500 (allothermal biomass gasifier). Therefore the process has to be developed and tests under laboratory condition and scale as well as on the existing gasifier have to be conducted.

Aims

The aim of the project is the development and demonstration of a process for the gas conditioning and methanation of product gas form a biomass gasifier. The refined gas is meant to accomplish the criteria for injection into the existing natural gas grid (synthetic natural gas, SNG). Highest overall efficiencies are achievable in case of an optimal utilization of waste heat for local and district heating or for steam generation in industrial applications. Thus, heat and power can be supplied with low CO2 emissions as well as low particulate matter emissions.

Measures

Process development and investigation of process parameter is conducted at the Institute for Energy Systems (TU München).

Focus

  • Process development
  • Process parameter
  • Investigation regarding the influence of product gas composition for the subsequent gas conditioning
