Efficient decentralized power and heat generation from biomass-based waste and residual materials such as poultry manure or sewage sludge is only possible to a limited extent due to the unfavorable fuel properties of the present plants on the market. In the project, a promising concept combining pyrolysis and entrainment gasification will be investigated in a demonstration plant. For this purpose, pretreated waste and residues by pyrolysis shall be converted to a product gas by entrained-flow gasification, which is then converted into electricity in the gas engine. A specific focus lies on the characterization of CHP exhaust gases and the conception of an exhaust cleaning system.
The overall objective is to proof the successful technical operation of the entrained flow gasifier with pyrolysis coke and subsequent combustion of the product gas in the gas engine. Practical test series and the analysis of measurement results are intended to optimize the gasification of pyrolysis coke from waste and residual materials as well as the treatment and engine use of the product gases. The results shall be used to refine the system calculations of the overall concept and to work out the basics for the technical design of a demonstration plant.
