For the further expansion of the use of biogenic solid fuels agricultural residues such as straw are of special interest. During the thermal conversion of non-woody biomass, beside increased dust emissions also significantly increased nitrogen oxide emissions (NOx) occur. Currently appropriate methods for exhaust gas cleaning are only available for plants with several megawatts. Therefore the aim of the project is to develop a method for simultaneous removing dust and nitrogen oxides from the exhaust, which can be used economically in combustion systems in small and medium power range (> 100 kW). The exhaust cleaning system should ensure the secure compliance with the emission limits for the use of biogenic residues.
The aim of the project is to test and optimize a method for the combined reduction of particulate matter and nitrogen oxides. For this purpose, the prototype of a dust filter and a metering system and a corresponding process control are developed. The method is tested on a 120 kW grate firing boiler and the optimal process parameters and the achievable dust and NOx removal efficiencies are determined for the fuel straw.
