Topic & aim

The aim of the project is to consistently exploit the advantages of small biomass-fueled CHP-plants: constant availability, storage capacity and the capability to partly compensate for high volatilities of wind and solar power in electricity and heat generation. Furthermore, application possibilities for such plants will be substantially further developed while thermal energy grids will be the basis to investigate load management and generation schedules for electric power grids.

Measures

DBFZ

  • Project management and coordination
  • Analysis of technical and legal framework
  • Application scenarios and communication protocols
  • Modelling and development of the control algorithm
  • Verification of the control algorithm with regard to the energy balance
  • Assistance in defining required interfaces
  • Technical, economic and ecological assessment of the control concept
  • Derivation of additional technical and non-technical suggestions for improvement

EIFER

  • Analysis of the commercially available control technologies and measuring devices
  • Scientific and technical monitoring and evaluation of the control algorithm
  • Supply and further development of the controller platform
  • Adjustments as well as retrofits of the measurement and communication technology at the reference plant
  • Performing tests in the test environment
  • Final market and actor analysis
  • Analysis of transferability to other application fields and technologies

ÖkoFEN

  • Providing know-how on operating concepts and their impact on the maintenance and service life of biomass CHP-plants
  • Technical monitoring and evaluation of the control algorithm
  • Supply of the CHP-plant for demonstrating the control algorithm
  • Development and installation of further system components of the CHP-plant necessary for operating the control algorithm
  • Monitoring the tests in the test environment
  • Carrying out the demonstration at the field test location
  • Estimation of future sales potential
  • Development of models for an exploitation of results
